  • Dana Point Fishing Charter

    We offer inshore trips for species such as Calico Bass, Sand Bass, White Sea Bass, Halibut, Yellowtail & Rockfish. Offshore trips for Tuna, Yellowtail, Dorado & Marlin. Island trips to Catalina & San Clemente Islands for Yellowtail, White Sea Bass, Halibut, Calico bass, Bonita & Baracuda. (Catalina trips only: we can arrange to drop off your party into the town of Avalon for a quick lunch or sightseeing)

    Shark fishing - Captain Tim Marking specializes in Mako & Thresher Sharks. He can offer chumming for very upclose & personal experience with these great animals as they will be swimming next to & under the boat. Your other option is his advanced trolling techniques for Threshers and Mako's.
Captain and crew, top of the line fishing equipment including Okuma rods and reels, tackle, and bait.

Fish cleaning and bottled water is also included. Please provide your own food and beverage.

** Prices do not include an optional gratuity for the captain and crew which (customarily 15-20%), loss of rod, reel or equipment) Rates subject to change due to fluctuation in fuel prices.
Everyone over 16 must bring a California fishing license (please purchase them the day before as if we must purchase them on the day of the trip it will delay our departure time) please also bring sunglasses, sun block, hat, warm clothes & shorts/bathing suit as the weather warms up (we do have a private changing area on board) lunch, snacks, drinks (no drugs of any kind or hard alcohol!) If you would like to bring your own personal rod & reels we do ask that you put brand new fishing line so you will not lose the catch of a lifetime!

Captain Tim Marking was born in 1968 and started fishing at the age of 6 at the local piers from Santa Barbara to San Diego. Soon after he started fishing on the local sport fishing boats & as a deck hand on private sport fishing boats. Also from a very young age he fished all the local lakes all over Southern California to continue honing his fishing skills and abilities. In 1998 he moved to the Northern Rockies of Montana, where he became a freshwater fishing guide & competed in the Western Bass fishing tournament circuit. Though he lived in Montana he continued to return and fish the ocean in Southern California and Mexico. In 2002 he acquired his USCG 50 ton masters license from the Maritime Institute of San Diego. Even though he does fish fresh water for enjoyment now, his main focus has always been big game fishing. He is continually experimenting with new tackle, technology & techniques. He has been seen on TV shows such as Inside Sportfishing on Fox Sports and has been published in books such as Captain Fred Archers “Shark Trolling” and “the Modern Art of Trolling”. In addition he is a contributing author of “West Coast Fishing Styles.” Captain Tim was one of the first charter captains to offer strictly shark trolling charters & on-the-water instruction. His knowledge & expertise of shark trolling brought him and his crew first place in the Finnseeker First Annual Thresher One Tournament out of Dana Point, CA & he has caught and released as many as 5 big Thresher sharks in a single day.
